Overview

This tailormade itinerary shows you the best of East and West Canada, followed by an epic cruise to Alaska. Begin in the fabulous city of Toronto and take a trip to Niagara Falls. Then fly to Calgary - the gateway to the Rockies. You don’t need a car, as you’ll take the short coach transfer to Banff, where you'll have a couple of days to explore the stunning national park before boarding the iconic Rocky Mountaineer train. Travel in style through the Canadian Rockies, enjoying fabulous food with expert commentary as you take in the spectacular sights. Discover vibrant Vancouver before embarking on your cruise to Alaska. You'll cruise along the coast of British Columbia, visit the fascinating ports of Juneau and Skagway, before reaching the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Glacier Bay. Day 1 Fly to Toronto

Arrive at Toronto’s International Airport and transfer independently to your downtown hotel for the next 3 nights.  You can explore at your leisure or we can arrange sightseeing for you, such a guided city tour or a cruise.

Day 2 Optional Full Day Niagara Falls Sightseeing

Optional Niagara Falls Trip (8 hours)

The Niagara Falls full day tour will bring you to one of Canada's most spectacular sights.  After being picked up from your hotel, you will travel to Niagara through the towns of Hamilton, "the steel capital of Canada", St Catherines "the fruit basket of Ontario", and the wine region of the Niagara Peninsula. Included is a thrilling boat ride on the Hornblower Cruise* for a unique view of the spectacular Horseshoe Falls.  Other highlights include a panoramic lunch at Sheraton on the Falls and trip along the beautiful Niagara Parkway which winds its way along the Niagara Gorge passing through the historic town of Niagara-on-the-Lake, voted "Canada's Prettiest Town"

* Between November and April the Hornblower cruise will be substituted with The Journey Behind The Falls

Day 3 Toronto

A full day to explore Toronto at leisure. We can book you admission tickets for the CN Tower - a must for any visitor to enjoy the panoramic views. You could take a downtown guided bike tour, enjoy a cruise of the harbour, take a spin on a Segway or be spooked on a Haunted Walk Tour.

Day 4 Fly to Calgary and transfer to Banff

This morning check out of your Toronto hotel and transfer independently to Toronto Airport for your flight to Calgary.  Upon arrival you have an included scheduled transfer to Banff which will take a little under two hours.

Day 5 & 6 Banff

You had two days at leisure in Banff. You can explore independently, strolling the lively high street filled with cafes and boutique, stroll the trail down to the lovely Bow River and Bow Falls, or we can pre-book some excursions for you such as these:

Optional Excursions from Banff:

The Icefields Parkway Tour from Banff (full day) – You will be picked up you’re your hotel to travel to the spectacular Columbia Icefield.  Covering an expanse of 325 sq. km and reaching depths of up to 320m, this impressive icefield forms one of the largest masses of ice south of the Arctic Circle.  Your route along the scenic Icefields Parkway provides stunning views. On arrival you will venture onto the Athabasca Glacier in a special vehicle -The Ice Explorer.  An alpine picnic lunch is included.

Banff Gondola Ride (2 hours) – take the eight minute ride in the fully-enclosed gondola up Sulphur mountain to enjoy spectacular views of six mountain ranges, enjoy the fascinating interpretive centre, stroll one of the guided trails and then enjoy refreshments or a meal in the restaurant (extra charge)

Banff Lake Minnewanka Cruise (1 hour) – transfer provided from the centre of Banff to this beautiful lake where you will enjoy a guided boat tour to learn about the history and geology as you admire the gorgeous views.

Day 7 Rocky Mountaineer Train from Banff to Kamloops

This morning check out of your hotel and catch a taxi to the train station.  On board the Rocky Mountaineer train, you will experience a spectacular rail excursion from Banff to Kamloops. This unique daylight service allows you to view some of the most spectacular sights in Western Canada. The route departs the Rocky Mountains through the Kicking Horse Pass. By late afternoon, you are in the ranchland of interior British Columbia, where you disembark for the night. Upon arrival in Kamloops, the evening is at your leisure. Overnight in Kamloops. Breakfast and lunch included.

Day 8 Rocky Mountaineer Train from Kamloops to Vancouver

You will set out on the last leg of your spectacular rail experience today. The Rocky Mountaineer takes you through the “cowboy country” ranchlands and along the rushing torrents of the Fraser and Thompson Rivers. You are now truly in pioneer territory and en route you can listen to the history and legends of the West while enjoying all the comforts of your luxury train. The last stretch takes you through lush farmlands and past historic towns to Vancouver. Breakfast and lunch included.  Upon arrival in Vancouver catch a taxi to your hotel for two nights

Day 9 Vancouver

Today is at leisure in this wonderful city.  Explore Vancouver independently, and again we can book you a wide variety of excursions such as a hop-on hop-off bus tour, a superb floatplane experience, a foodie Granville Island Market tour or a sunset dinner cruise. There are also plenty of places to hire bikes to cycle along the picturesque sea wall to Stanley Park.

Day 10 Embarkation ms Koningsdam

Morning is at leisure, early this afternoon catch a taxi to the Vancouver cruise terminal where you board your ship.  Overnight on Holland America’s ms Koningsdam. Dinner included.

Day 11 Cruise the Inside Passage

Enjoy sailing through the dramatic Inside Passage along the spectacular British Columbia coastline. Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner included.

Day 12 Port of Call Juneau, Alaska

Located at the foot of grand mountain peaks on the Gastineau Channel, the town of Juneau has the massive Mendenhall Glacier and the immense Juneau Icefields at its back door. Juneau is the place to let your imagination run wild. Explore the lush Tongass National Forest, visit the rustic shops in town, set out and whale watch, flightsee, hike, kayak, raft or fish. Due to the long daylight hours, there’s plenty of time for your perfect Juneau adventure. Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner included.

Day 13 Port of Call Skagway, Alaska

Take your time and poke into every little store from the Trail Bench to Lynch & Kennedy’s Dry Goods. The Red Onion Saloon, with its honky tonk piano and costumed barmaids, is a treasure trove of memorabilia featuring pictures of Klondike Kate, Peahull Annie and other vintage characters. To complete the picture of those rip-roaring days, visit the nostalgic Trail of ’98 Museum. The Klondike Gold Rush National Historical Park boasts restored buildings and wooden boardwalks that invite you to take a stroll into the past. Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner included.

Day 14 Glacier Bay Scenic Cruise

As Biosphere Reserve and UNESCO World Heritage Site, Glacier Bay National Park protects a unique ecosystem of plants and animals living in concert with an ever-changing glacial landscape. Bring out the camera and listen for the thunderous sound of a monumental chunk of ice that has split from a glacier as it crashes into the sea. The impact shoots water hundreds of feet into the air. Glacier Bay has more actively calving tidewater glaciers than anyplace else in the world. Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner included.

Day 15 Port of Call Ketchikan, Alaska

Built out over the water and climbing weathered stairways, Ketchikan clings to the shores of Tongass Narrows and drapes the mountains with a cheerful air. Take time to explore Creek Street, the Tongass Historical Museum, Totem Bight State Park and Saxman Village, Ketchikan’s main attractions. Deep water fjords created by retreating glaciers has left behind stunning granite cliffs towering thousands of feet above the sea and countless waterfalls cascading into placid waters. Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner included.

Day 16 Cruise the Inside Passage

Enjoy the return sailing through the dramatic Inside Passage. Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner included.

Day 17 Vancouver

After breakfast you will disembark your cruise ship in Vancouver where your holiday concludes, catch a taxi to the airport for your flight home.
