Overview

Lake Louise is already one of the most beautiful, scenic lakes in the world; but when the winter months sweep in, this striking setting transforms into a breath-taking winter wonderland – your wedding here will be filled with magical moments and the most blissful of memories.

The jewel of the Rockies, there are three spectacular venues for your Lake Louise Wedding: you can exchange vows beside the sparkling ice lake, paved just a short walk from the hotel, or if you’d rather be further hidden away from the tourist path, there’s a small, romantic meadow next to the Chateau which exudes an intimate ambience and overlooks magnificent views of the lake and glacier. For a truly unforgettable and utterly special wedding, you can say, “I do” atop the frozen white lake itself with an incredible ice castle backdrop creating wonderful photograph opportunities.

During the winter, you can delight in a host of fantastic outdoor activities, from skiing, ice skating and snowshoeing, to romantic horse-drawn sleigh rides in the snow. Our Luxury Wedding option is an exceptional choice for those who want to fully indulge in this sublime setting and enjoy the most opulent of weddings, featuring a bridal hair stylist and make-up artist, a stunning dog sledding tour for the newlyweds, a professional photographer, and wedding cake with champagne to enjoy at your hotel.

The feeling you’ll have as you nestle under a blanket with your loved one, closest friends and family as you gaze in awe at the mesmerising Northern Lights dancing in the starry night sky is simply spectacular; we think a stay at the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise for at least two nights will truly immerse you in a luxurious experience and the opportunity to fully explore this Canadian jewel.

More Information

The Jewel of the Rockies! Lake Louise offers two options for outdoor weddings – an intimate elopements provides you with a great location looking out directly onto the lake. It’s paved and just a short walk from the hotel, so it’s ideal for everyone. Alternatively, if you’d rather be further from the tourist path, there’s a small meadow next to the hotel (Chateau Lake Louise) which offers some tranquility and space, as well as magnificent views of the lake and glacier.  This setting accommodates a maximum of 20 people.  In the winter you can be married on the lake – it’s typically frozen late December to early March (weather dependant). Every winter, the hotel creates a spectacular playground of ice and snow – it’s like a walk back in time and the Ice Castle on the lake captures the mood perfectly. Whichever location you choose there are many photography spots that your photographer will take you to after the ceremony, both inside and outside.   If you are considering a wedding at Lake Louise we would recommend that you stay at the Chateau for at least two nights (night before and night of wedding).

ON ARRIVAL

Couples must obtain wedding licence in Banff – even if staying in Lake Louise.  Licence cost IS included & accompanied.  Cost of transfer from Lake Louise to Banff is NOT included.  Licence office is open Monday – Friday.

We suggest having two pair of shoes one outdoor pair (these can be white fur boots or any type of show that are easy to walk on snow) and an indoor pair which can be worn for photographs, ceremony, reception etc.  We suggest bringing a fur cape or wrap if you are planning to do an outdoor ceremony or photographs outdoors. Alternatively you can wear a winter coat and remove it for the ceremony or photographs. We also suggest bringing some gloves.  During all seasons mountain weather is known for it's unpredictability we always suggest checking the weather forecast prior to arrival to check the current weather trends so your guests can dress accordingly
