Angela share's her Canada Holiday Story

Angela went on our Rockies by Rail & Celebrity Alaskan Cruise tour in Canada. Here's what she had to say:

I had wanted to do this trip for so long but had been a bit apprehensive about cruising alone. It was everything people told me it would be and more. I spent a total of 3 nights in the lovely city of Vancouver at the Century Plaza and Spa which couldn't have been better placed for everything I wanted to do. The rooms were huge and spotlessly clean. Everything you could need was there from a fully equipped kitchen to just a coffee machine and micro-wave. All on the 23rd floor with magnificent views of the city. The coffee bar was excellent, serving lovely coffee and tea and a good selection of sweet and savoury items all at a very reasonable price.

Vancouver is so clean everywhere and of course Canada Place and the walk around the harbour was breath-taking. There are plenty of good eating sites in fact you are spoilt for choice. The people were very friendly and went out of their way to help if you were a bit lost. I visited Capilano Suspension Bridge Park which was awesome and Stanley Park which you really need a full day to explore. I bought a day travel pass $7 which gave me access to any public travel in Vancouver.

My cruise was wonderful. The scenery was awesome, it was like sailing through a wedding cake surrounded by sparkling white icing. Celebrity Infinity made you feel special. There was nothing to fault. The rooms were lovely, all the staff went out of their way to make you feel welcome and the food was fantastic.  Can't wait to do it again.

Then there was the Rocky Mountaineer. Again everything was so well planned, the food and service were faultless and of course there was the beautiful scenery.

My last few days were spent in Jasper and Banff where I stayed at the Maligne Lodge and the Mount Royal. Jasper is gorgeous and I will certainly be going back there as I only had one night. The Maligne Lodge was right on the edge of town surrounded by snow-capped mountains and that beautiful smell of pine which you only get in true pine forests. The room there was more than adequate with everything you could need, spotlessly clean and a lovely restaurant serving breakfast. From there I took the Icefield Parkway trip not to be missed, but be warned when they say you need warm clothes believe me you do if you venture out onto the Athabasca (not sure about the spelling) Glacier. Then on to Banff where I spent 2 nights at the Mount Royal. This hotel is right in the centre of everything. A lovely hotel full of history and very welcoming staff. You are spoilt for choice as to what to do. There are so many lovely shops, good eating places and lovely coffee bars. I really wanted to do the gondola ride but somehow didn't get myself organised so I opted to do the Bow River Falls trail which was so relaxing and pretty. I saw a deer alongside the water, it wasn't in the slightest concerned that a few humans were there and just got on with feeding. 2 days isn't long enough in Banff you could easily spend a week there and not do half the things available to you. I ate at the Spaghetti Factory one night which was excellent value. I shall certainly be going back to the Rockies, possibly with me family so we can hire a car and venture further afield but on this occasion   this was the dream holiday I had been thinking of for years.
