The spectacular scenery and amazing sights make this the ideal setting for a family holiday to remember. This is a great opportunity to get out into the Canadian wilderness and experience the many amazing vistas this beautiful area has to offer. Along the way you’ll also visit Edmonton, staying in spacious and comfortable accommodation that’s been especially chosen to suit families. With longer stays in each of your destinations, you’ll have more chances for some quality time with your loved ones in some superb locations.

Details

Day 1

Your first stop is in Calgary, known as ‘The Heart of the New West’! Upon arrival, you’ll pick up your hire car and proceed to your hotel. The rest of your day is yours to spend at your leisure, giving you chance to explore the city.

Overnight: International Hotel of Calgary – Two-bedroom Suite

Set in downtown Calgary, steps from Eau Claire Market, Chinatown, shopping and the city's best restaurants, the hotel features a fitness centre, indoor swimming pool and whirlpool. The two-bedroom suite features a main bedroom with a king-size bed and a second bedroom with either a king-size bed or two twin beds.

Day 2

Today you’ll spend another day exploring Calgary – kids will love a trip to the renowned Calgary Zoo, or if you want to take in the views then the vistas from the top of the Calgary Tower are second to none. There are plenty of family-friendly activities at the Canada Olympic Park, where the 1988 Olympics where held, where families can enjoy zorbing, summertime bobsleigh rides and zip lining.

Day 3

Today will see you depart from Calgary and head north to the city of Edmonton – known as ‘festival city’. This is also the capital of the province of Alberta and its economic heart. Make your way to the West Edmonton Mall and the Fantasyland Hotel – the former of these is the largest mall in North America, with over 800 shops and numerous entertainment sections. There are 24 rides and attractions at Galaxyland, and the World Water Park features a number of waterslides and a large wave pool.

Overnight: Fantasyland Hotel – Superior Room with bunk beds

Situated within the West Edmonton Mall, this themed hotel features a dining room, lounge, indoor pool, fitness centre and restaurant. The Superior Room with bunk beds features two queen-sized beds and a set of bunk beds, HDTV, high speed internet, mini fridge, coffee maker, and iron and ironing board.

Day 4

Today will give you another opportunity to explore the expansive West Edmonton Mall, as well as other attractions here including the Sea Life Caverns/Sea Lion Rock, Ice Palace for ice skating, mini golf and movie theatres. There’s so much to see in this one complex, but if you fancy venturing outside of the mall, head to the Royal Alberta Museum, the natural history museum, or the local botanical garden.

Overnight: Fantasyland Hotel

Day 5

Today, depart from Edmonton in the morning and head towards the Rocky Mountains and Jasper. Upon arrival, check into your accommodation and spend the rest of the day exploring the amazing scenery at your leisure.

Overnight: Pocahontas Cabins – Executive Log Cabin

Situated just 30 minutes east of Jasper, in a stunning wilderness setting, you’ll be able to enjoy the outdoor pool, gift shop, BBQ area, grocery and camping supplies, and the dining room. The Executive Log Cabin features two queen-sized beds in an upper loft area, living area with a double sofa with a pull-out sofa, full bathroom, gas fireplace, fully-equipped kitchen with microwave, TV and DVD player, hairdryer, and complimentary tea and coffee.

Day 6

Today, spend the day exploring the Jasper area – we recommend a visit to the famous Miette Hot Springs, situated just up the road from your accommodation, or the Jasper Tramway for an amazing view of the town and mountains. A great activity for families is a charming boat ride on the Maligne Lake.

Overnight: Pocahontas Cabins

Day 7

Depart from Jasper and drive the world-famous Icefields Parkway to Banff. This is Canada’s second highest paved highway, and by far one of the country’s most scenic drives. There’s a number of wonderful experiences to enjoy here, from the amazing glaciers and mountain lakes, to the waterfalls and beautiful scenery. Along the way, visit the Glacier Skywalk – Jasper National Park’s newest attraction (admission not included). This 400m interpretive boardwalk and glass-floored observation platform extends 30m out over the Sunwapta Valley. Continue to Lake Louise for a visit to the famous glacier and lake, then journey on to Banff for your overnight stay.

Overnight: Douglas Fir Resort – One-bedroom Loft Condo

Set a scenic 20-minute walk from downtown Banff, this hotel features two indoor waterslides, an indoor pool, kids pool, sauna, whirlpool, fitness room, kids play room, games room, tennis courts and a convenience store. The condo features two queen-sized beds upstairs, one queen-sized bed downstairs in the master bedroom, one double sofa bed in the living room, one full and one half bathroom, hairdryer, in-room safe, iron and ironing board, wireless internet access, HDTV and DVD player, full kitchen facilities and a wood-burning fireplace.

Day 8-9

Spend the next two days exploring the picturesque Bow Valley, including Canmore, Banff and Lake Louise. The sightseeing opportunities are stunning here, and there are numerous wildlife sightings to seek out. Banff offers a host of attractions including the Banff Lake Cruise, horseback riding and Banff Gondola.

Overnight: Douglas Fir Resort

Day 10

This morning, check out of your hotel and travel to Calgary Airport. Upon arrival, drop off your hire car and board your return flight.
