Click here for Pricing & Dates

Overview

A perfect holiday for enjoying the great Canadian outdoors, canoeing through the Algonquin Provincial Park. You’ll have a couple of nights sleeping under the stars in a tent and a couple of nights at a cosy log cabin.

We’ve built this itinerary starting and ending with a night in Toronto, and with transfers into the Algonquin Park built into the price, but you may want to hire a car to drive yourself, and then go onto explore further in Ontario. We can tailor-make this all to suit you.

This is a great family experience, but please note the minimum age is 6 years old, also accommodation in each tent and cabin is for a maximum of two people.

Highlights

  • Explore the stunning Algonquin Provincial Park, filled with thousands of lakes and rivers, maple hills and rocky ridges, and the only way to explore the interior is by canoe or on foot
  • Learn how to paddle and navigate a canoe in twos and solo, plus enjoy a leisurely group trip in a 26 foot Voyager Canoe
  • Leave the modern world behind as you camp beneath the stars in tents and then stay in the beautifully situated Algonquin Log Cabin on the shores of Surprise Lake. This simple lodging has no mobile phone coverage or electricity

Monday departures 25 June to 2 September (TM/JV)

Toronto to Algonquin Provincial Park

You will be picked up by shuttle bus at your hotel at approximately 7.00am, arriving at around 12.30pm. After lunch, the group loads their packs and departs by canoe into the Algonquin Provincial Park, receiving a lesson on paddling along the way. Day 3

Hiking and canoeing in Algonquin Park

After breakfast, break camp and paddle east through a series of beautiful lakes. A floating lunch provides the energy to paddle up a bog with great opportunities to see moose, herons and beaver. The final stop is on a beautiful lake with time to hike, swim, fish or simply relax. Enjoy fresh baked bannock bread cooked over the fire and listen to old stories and myths of travelling through the Canadian wilderness.

Overnight: Tent camping in the Algonquin Park (Breakfast, lunch & dinner included)

Day 4

Algonquin Park

Wake up to the smell of coffee brewing and bacon frying for breakfast, then hike through a mixed maple forest, learning about the unique mix of flora and fauna. Discover how to paddle and navigate a canoe solo, stopping along the way for lunch. Reaching the shore late afternoon, you’ll then transfer by truck to the Algonquin Log Cabin. Check into your room to freshen up and then relax over some wine & cheese, followed by dinner in the cabin.

Overnight: Algonquin Log Cabin (Breakfast, lunch & dinner included)

Day 5

Algonquin Park

After breakfast, explore the hiking trails around the Algonquin Log Cabin. A hike to Music Lake features a talk about the boreal forest, the beaver pond and spruce bogs. Enjoy a picnic lunch at Music Lake and then hike to Surprise Lake. Here a 26 foot Voyager Canoe will be moored, and you’ll enjoy a leisurely paddle, island hopping, back to the log cabin. The remainder of the afternoon you are free to relax, swim or take a sauna. A Canadian dinner is followed by a night paddle.

Overnight: Algonquin Log Cabin (Breakfast, lunch & dinner included)

Day 6
