Day 1

Winnipeg

Fly to Winnipeg and independently transfer to your hotel, which is conveniently situated at the Airport. At 7pm a dinner will be held at the hotel where you will meet your group and your adventure specialist. Ensure your flight arrives mid-afternoon.

Day 2

Winnipeg – Churchill – Seal River Heritage Lodge

Arrive in Churchill by air, where our expert staff will meet you and provide instructions for your morning transfers. Begin your adventure with a stunning flight over the Hudson Bay coast to Seal River Heritage Lodge, home for the next six days. Keep your eyes peeled for whales, caribou, birds, and, of course, magnificent polar bears along the Seal River Estuary.

On arrival, enjoy a lodge tour, settle into your room, and receive a thorough orientation on travelling safely in polar bear country. After a Churchill Wild-style lunch, take your first walk along the Hudson Bay coast, capturing the extraordinary scenery and wildlife. The day concludes with a full-course dinner and a cosy evening by the fireplace - rest well for the adventures ahead.

Day 3 - 6

Seal River Heritage Lodge

Over the next four days, each morning breakfast will be served at 08:00 and the tour of the day will typically depart the lodge at 09:30. Depending on both weather and group interest, you will enjoy the following activities:

Option 1: Marine Tours

This half-day wildlife tour takes you aboard large, fully equipped nine-person inflatable boats, offering close encounters with beluga whales, seals, seabirds, and polar bears. Listen to whale songs via hydrophone and enjoy lunch and refreshments onboard. Tours run depending on tides and weather.

Option 2: Trekking/ Walking Tours

Offered daily, these tours range from short outings to spot passing caribou to full-day excursions with a packed lunch. Experience the Arctic’s vast landscapes and wildlife, including nesting birds, fox dens, wildflowers, and caribou. Guides ensure safe distances when polar bears are sighted.

Option 3: Coast by Tundra Tracker

Take a day trip on a custom-built Tundra Tracker along the Hudson Bay coast, searching for Arctic wildlife. Pause for a picnic lunch and enjoy ample time for exploration and photography along the way.

Option 4: Wildlife Photography

Led by experienced guides, these excursions offer photography support, covering both composition and technique to help you capture those once-in-a-lifetime wildlife moments.

Option 5: Aurora Watching

Witness the spectacular northern lights, particularly later in the summer season, as the aurora borealis dances across the northern skies. Ideal for photography, guests are encouraged to bring a tripod to capture the best shots.

Option 6: Bird Watching

Expert guides help you spot and identify over 150 bird species, offering the chance to add several “lifers” to your birding checklist.

Option 7: Photo Presentations and Lectures

From talks on “Travelling in Bear Country” to “Wildlife of the Arctic”, our northern guides share photos and stories, offering a unique opportunity to learn about Arctic wildlife, landscapes, and the people who call this remote region home.

Rest and Relaxation: Should you decide that curling up by the fireplace with a good book or enjoying a hot drink and sharing stories with your fellow adventurers is what you need, feel free to do that too!

Day 7

Seal River Heritage Lodge – Churchill – Winnipeg

After another hearty lodge breakfast, you will fly back to Churchill. Have cameras ready again for the return flight as it affords excellent opportunities for great aerial shots. Upon your return to Churchill, the tour representative will store your luggage for you to enjoy the rest of your day browsing the shops and exhibits of Churchill. Your flight south to Winnipeg will take place this evening. Upon arrival Winnipeg and collect your bags before proceeding to your hotel.

Day 8

Fly home

After a restful sleep you will pack your bags in preparation for your flight home. Fly back home from Winnipeg

Seal River Heritage Lodge

Churchill

Seal River Heritage Lodge, a remote fly-in retreat near Churchill, offers an unparalleled Arctic experience. Guests enjoy rustic-chic accommodation, guided wildlife and photography excursions, and close encounters with polar bears, belugas, and other Arctic creatures. Evenings feature full-course meals, cosy fireplaces, and spectacular Northern Lights—truly a once-in-a-lifetime adventure.

Passengers are allowed a total combined luggage weight of 70 lbs (32 kg), including up to two carry-on items (max 20 lbs, 38 inches total) and one checked bag (max 50 lbs, under 55 inches or 90 litres). Soft sided luggage is required. Batteries, medication, and laptops must be carried onboard, while hand and foot warmers must go in checked baggage. If your luggage exceeds the limit, the hotel in Winnipeg can store it (on request and charges may apply).
