Churchill Tundra Lodge Adventure

Full Board 6 nights from £11,999 per person Including Flights

Overview

Venturing to stunning Manitoba and seeing polar bears roaming in the wild is incredible enough, but this five-night escorted tour adds to the excitement with a stay in the unique Tundra Lodge. Consisting of a custom ‘train’ with a lounge car, dining car and individual sleeping compartments, the Tundra Lodge is moved to an optimal polar bear viewing location each season, and has large windows and outdoor viewing platforms so you can see the bears that pay a visit.

Not only will you see amazing wildlife from your lodge window, your tour group has full access to the entire Churchill Wildlife Management Area. Most tour groups are only allowed to the half way point, so you’ll be treated to exclusive views of the polar bears.

Please note: Itineraries may vary slightly, but all inclusions will remain the same. Please also note that polar bear sightings are not 100% guaranteed. Since Natural Habitat Adventures was founded in 1989, there have only been a handful of times that polar bears have been missed, however the distance and frequency in which you see the polar bears can differ depending on weather. (NHA)

Day 1

Winnipeg

Upon arrival in Winnipeg, you will transfer to the historic Fort Garry Hotel, a prestigious landmark of hospitality. In the evening, join your Expedition Leader and fellow travellers for a welcome dinner.

Day 2

Winnipeg – Churchill – Tundra Lodge

Today you will fly to Churchill on the private chartered plane, before transferring to the Tundra Lodge by Polar Rover and looking for wildlife along the way. Once you’ve arrived at the lodge, you’ll enjoy a presentation on polar bears by your Expedition Leader before a dinner cooked by the professional chef.

Days 3 & 4

Churchill

For the next couple of days, you’ll have some time to enjoy the Tundra Lodge and amazing tundra excursions.

The Tundra Lodge is deliberately placed in a spot that attracts the largest number of polar bears that particular season. As you relax in your individual cabin or the communal area, polar bears often approach the lodge to peer inside the many windows, or roam nearby the elevated observation decks.

Your 29-person group will split into two, so that there are just 16 guests maximum on the 30-person Polar Rover at a time. This means you’re guaranteed a spot by the window to watch the polar bears, Arctic fox, caribou and more. Whilst one half is on the Polar Rover, the other half can relax at the Lodge and look for polar bears, and then vice versa for the second half of the day.

In the evenings, you’ll all reunite in for dinner and presentations. You may even be lucky enough to see the northern lights dancing across the sky.

Day 5

Churchill - Winnipeg

Today you will board the Polar Rover and make your way back to Churchill for a fabulous traditional dog sled ride. Meet the local musher and his gorgeous huskies, before your sled ride through the boreal forest. Afterwards, you may have some time to pick up some souvenirs in town before your farewell lunch. In the afternoon, you’ll board your private chartered flight back to Winnipeg, and transfer back to Fort Garry Hotel for a final reception.
