Day 1

Fly to New York

Arrive in New York and transfer independently to the Hotel Riu Plaza or another hotel of your choice. Even if you are tired after your trans-Atlantic flight, there are plenty of eating options a short walk from the hotel for you to enjoy an evening out in the Big Apple.

Day 2

New York

A day to explore New York. If you like, we can book you tickets for a timed visit to the Empire State Building or perhaps a helicopter tour of Manhattan. Or you may prefer walk to the bright lights of Times Square after a browse around Macy’s and then on for a stroll around Central Park.

Day 3

Embarkation Emerald Princess

A morning to experience more of New York, time for a spot of lunch then it’s time to head over to the cruise port just west of the Hell’s Kitchen neighbourhood. Board the Emerald Princess, your home for the next seven days.

Day 4

Port of Call – Newport, Rhode Island

You will arrive into Newport first thing in the morning. In the 19 century, Newport was the epicentre of the summer season for wealthy New Yorkers. Dubbed the “Gilded Age”, this is where the Vanderbilts and Astors built their sumptuous mansions and enjoyed a whirlwind of grand parties, yacht races and elaborate beach picnics. Choose from a variety of excursions to see the glorious mansions and picturesque coastline.

Day 5

Port of Call – Boston, Massachusetts

The ship will sail into Boston mid morning and leave at 8pm in the evening, giving you ample time to explore this charming city and perhaps soak up the atmosphere in one of its fabled bars. You could take a hop on hop off trolley tour of the historic districts or visit the John F Kennedy Library.

Day 6

Port of Call – Bar Harbor Maine

Approaching Bar Harbor, you will be able to spot numerous unique lighthouses which stand guard over the long stretch of Maine's coast. This is the gateway to Acadia National Park, a haven for nature lovers, its 35,000 acres are home to sea-scoured shores, forested mountains and rocky cliffs overlooking sparkling lakes. You can cycle, drive, hike or trot by horse-drawn carriage through the park's postcard-perfect scenery and along 27-mile Park Loop Road that ribbons around the island and wends its way up to the summit of Cadillac Mountain.

Day 7

Port of Call – Halifax Nova Scotia

This morning you will be arriving in the Canadian province of Nova Scotia. Halifax is one of the world’s largest natural harbours, and so you’ll want to be on deck to enjoy the view as you arrive. Whilst it is the capital of Nova Scotia, Halifax is a lovely walkable city, with a great waterfront district and compact downtown area. Visit the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic and learn about the role of the city as the first responders for the Titanic disaster, seeing the world’s best collection of Titanic memorabilia. You could book an excursion to Peggy’s Cove, a picturesque fishing village with photogenic lighthouse, and Lunenburg, a UNESCO World Heritage Site with its quaint colourful houses.

Day 8

Port of Call – Saint John, New Brunswick

Cruise further into Canada arriving into the lovely town of Saint John, capital of New Brunswick. Visit the Historic District and browse Old City Market, perhaps take a Foodie Walking Tour – this city is now renowned as a foodie destination. Venture out onto the Skywalk to marvel at the phenomenon of the Reversing Rapids – where the water of the Saint John River is pushed back upstream by the tide.

Day 9

At sea

A final day at sea to experience all that the Emerald Princess has to offer. Enjoy a Broadway-style production, find a quiet spot by the swimming pool or indulge in an elegant Afternoon Tea
