Holidays in Toronto are sure to be exciting, culturally stimulating and memorable no matter where you end up or what your interests. It was also one of the first established cities in Canada. Read more...
Toronto (locally pronounced as “tor-on-ah”) is very proud to be at the centre of Canada. It is the capital of Ontario and one of the most culturally rich metropolitan centres in the country. It is also the primary home of Canada’s Music and Television Industry and annually hosts the very popular Toronto International Film Festival, second only to Cannes as a launching pad for International, Hollywood, and Canadian cinema.
One of Toronto Canada’s most recognisable landmarks is the CN Tower which stands quite prominently in the city’s skyline. One of the tallest free-standing structures in North America, the CN Tower is home to a rotating restaurant and spectacular 360 degree city views. Toronto features world class museums & art galleries, including the newly renovated AGO (Art Gallery of Ontario) and the ROM (Royal Ontario Museum). It is also home to the National Ballet of Canada, the Royal Opera House, and a large theatre district which hosts hit Broadway shows and original Canadian theatre.
For the sports inclined the Hockey Hall of Fame is worth a visit, as is Rogers Centre. In July there is the Honda Indy Toronto, an exciting and more affordable precursor to Formula 1. Families may enjoy the Ontario Place amusement park and the beautiful Toronto Islands (which offer a small amusement park, sports events, beaches, and children’s play places during the summer).
Regardless of your reason for choosing a Toronto holiday, you are not likely to be disappointed. It is a vibrant metropolitan centre with much to offer for any visitor.
