This spectacular journey begins with the city of Toronto’s many delights, from the country’s largest aquarium to its world-class dining scene, but quickly traverses to some of Ontario’s most wonderful natural wonders. Experience the province’s endless glistening lakes and abundance of wildlife along with a host of outdoor adventures along the way.

Day 1 & 2

Toronto, ON

Arrive into Toronto and check into your hotel, and then enjoy the rest of the day relaxing or taking in the sights of the city known for its world-class theatre, shopping and dining. The “New York City run by the Swiss,” as its sometimes referred to, is a foodie paradise, with the chance to sample a wide range of tasty international cuisine in district’s devoted to numerous different cultures, from Little Italy and Koreatown to Little India, Little Portugal and more.

Spend the next day independently exploring Toronto’s many attractions like the CN Tower, the tallest free-standing structure in the western hemisphere. If you dare, you can go on the EdgeWalk, a heart-pounding hands-free walk around the outside ledge of the tower. You’ll want to put Ripley’s Aquarium on your to-do list, located at the base of the tower. Canada’s largest indoor aquarium boasts 135,000-square-feet of exhibits. Other options include visiting the Hockey Hall of Fame, strolling the harbourfront district or taking a harbour cruise, and shopping at the multi-level Eaton Centre.

Day 3 & 4

Keene, ON (96 miles)

Follow the northern shore of Lake Ontario passing diverse landscapes and small towns before reaching Elmhirst’s Resort in Keene, located on the tranquil shores of Rice Lake. Enjoy relaxing on the beach or taking a refreshing dip in the water, and then returning to your comfy cottage, which includes a lakefront deck, private dock, BBQ, and full kitchen.

The next day is yours to play – choose two activities, perhaps getting a thrilling bird’s-eye view by taking a flightseeing excursion over the region and then horseback riding through the woods. Afterwards, enjoy indulging in the relaxing treatments at the spa followed by a delicious meal made with farm-fresh ingredients in the Hearthside Dining Room, paired with a glass of wine or two from the onsite Wine Cellar which includes some of Ontario and Canada’s finest vintages.

Day 5 & 6

Belleville, ON (58 miles)

Say goodbye to Elmhirst and hello to Belleville and the beautiful Bay of Quinte, your home for the next two nights. This area offers an outstanding mix of activities for outdoor adventurers and historic sites for history buffs, with the town dating back to the early days of colonial Canada. Go shopping and dining, or play a round of golf on one of the 15 courses in the area. In the morning, explore the historic city, visiting British Loyalist homes that are now National Historic Sites, like the Gilanmore House, and in the afternoon take advantage of the water by going boating, swimming or fishing for the abundance of large and small mouth bass, perch and pike that are in the bay. If you want to stay on land, head to the Quinte Conservation Area to embark on one of the many hikes available for all abilities.

Day 7 & 8

Halliburton, ON (1 09 miles)

Today you’ll drive north to Haliburton, and one of the province’s most popular “cottaging” areas, where many summer homes were built on the shores of the endless lakes and rivers in the region. Check into your hotel and then take an afternoon stroll through the Haliburton Sculpture Forest, with easy trails that lead through old growth forest, interspersed with sculptures created by local artists before dining at one of the many delectable eateries in the village that’s nestled in a landscape of lush forestland found on the edge of Head Lake.

Discover the Haliburton Highlands and all of its fascinating attractions like the Haliburton Wolfe Centre where you’ll learn about the inner workings of a wolf pack, or take the “Walk in the Clouds,” tour, traversing a canopy boardwalk that winds through the treetops, 32 to 62 feet above the forest floor. At the Haliburton Highlands Museum, you’ll view artefacts from the early mining and forestry days of the area. Back at your resort, enjoy a soothing massage or other treatments at the onsite spa.

Day 9 & 10

Huntsville, ON (61 miles)

Move on from the forests of the Haliburton Highlands to the famous Muskoka region, known for its lakes that spring from the rocky outcroppings of the Canadian Shield. Check into your Huntsville resort and enjoy relaxing and exploring the grounds, or head into town to shop, dine, and perhaps catch a show at the Algonquin Theatre.

In the morning, take advantage of the wealth of outdoor adventures that away, like hiking the trail that leads to a waterfall in Arrowhead Provincial Park, or heading to Algonquin Provincial Park to enjoy the extensive system of lakes and trails while watching for all sorts of wildlife like moose and bear.

Day 11 & 12

Blue Mountain, ON (108 miles)

Venture south, around the southern shores of Georgian Bay, heading toward Blue Mountain, the province’s only four-season village resort. Wander along the cobbled streets of the village to pick up souvenirs and gifts, enjoy a horse-drawn carriage ride and pop into one of the many restaurants for a bite before checking into your hotel for the night.

On your last full day of Ontario exploration, try one of the world’s most thrilling summer sports – a high-speed bobsled run without the snow. You’ll take the lift to the top of the mountain, hop onto your personal ride and race down the track that snakes through the forest – with your full day park pass, you can experience this thrill as often as you’d like, trying it at different speeds until you figure out which is your favourite.

Day 13

The final leg of the journey, today you’ll return to Toronto International Airport for your return flight home.
