Walk on some of the world’s oldest rock, see unique geological formations, and trace the footsteps of Captain Cook and Viking explorers as well as enjoying nature cruises and historical landmarks.

Days 1 and 2 - St. John’s, Newfoundland
Fly into St John’s and check in to your hotel in the city; this is the capital city for the province and you will be at leisure to explore its delights. The following morning meet your tour group at breakfast before embarking on a city tour highlighting the Cape Spear lighthouse, Government House and the Basilica of St. John the Baptist. Your day continues with a trip to the fishing harbour at Quid Vidi Village, where you will join a cruise, with a local nature specialist on board, into the Witless Bay Ecological Reserve, the nesting site for millions of seabirds and home to several species of whale.

Day 3 - St John’s to Clarenville
Today’s journey takes you around the beautiful Conception Bay with a stop in the traditional Newfoundland fishing village of Brigus. Then it’s on to Cupids Cove Plantation, where the first English settlement was established in what would later become known as Canada. Our group will enjoy a musical performance and have a private tour at the Legacy Centre explaining the reality of life for the early settlers in the 1600s. You will also visit an active archaeological site to see some of the finds from the last 20 years of uncovering the past.

Day 4 – Clarenville – Cape Bonavista – Clarenville
Using Clarenville as a base today’s trip is a worthy detour out to the tip of aptly named Cape Bonavista. En-route we explore Trinity Village with its great historical attractions including heritage buildings and a living blacksmith museum.
Day 5 - Clarenville - Terra Nova National Park - Twillingate – Gander
Today you are leaving Clarenville behind for the stunning scenery of Terra Nova National Park where the alpine forests meet the sea. The next stop is a famous lighthouse at Twillingate with views over what is known as ‘Iceberg Alley’. This evening we will explore the Newfoundland culture through a “Jigg’s dinner”, the local equivalent of a Sunday Roast get-together.

Day 6 - Gander - Rocky Harbour
Today the tour travels west to Rocky Harbour stopping at the Beothuk Interpretation Centre to learn about the Beothuk people, a now extinct culture that roamed Newfoundland up to 300 years ago.

Day 7 - Gros Morne National Park
The nearby Gros Morne National Park is a unique destination and you will start at the Discover Centre to explain the unique geology and Strata formations you can encounter at Green Point. You can explore the Tableland Mountains on foot and then we will join a boat trip to see the fjords and spot whales and eagles in their natural habitat.
Today you become an honorary Newfoundlander by taking part in a “Screech-In” ceremony with thankfully involves a shot of rum! Dinner is a BBQ overlooking the Gulf of St Lawrence.

Day 8 - Rocky Harbour - St. Anthony
Journey along the Viking Trail on the way to St Anthony and travel back in time 1000 years to when Vikings first made landfall. Experience firsthand the unique solutions Newfoundlanders have found to make life work in the extreme conditions they are faced with.
The final stop today is at the economuseum where you learn the secrets of the local partridgeberry and bake-apple produce.

Day 9 - St. Anthony - L’Anse Au Clair, Labrador
Cross by ferry to Labrador and visit the UNESCO world heritage site of Red Bay a colourful former whaling town with a fascinating history.

Day 10 - Corner Brook
Another ferry ride, back to Newfoundland, and we head south to Corner Brook.
Stay 2 nights at Glynmill Inn (or similar) with breakfast
Your final day starts with the Captain James Cook National Historic Site, before heading to the Bay of Islands and picturesque Lark Harbour. A visit to the Butterfly House and a Mineral specialist add extra interest to your trip.
Live music is provided with traditional songs for you to enjoy tonight.
Day 12– Tour Ends
Travel to the airport for your flight from Corner Brook (some flights depart early!)
