Begin your Rockies adventure by exploring the vibrant city of Vancouver before embarking on an amazing 7-night Alaskan cruise on the NCL Sun. After your cruise comes to a close, you’ll have a further night in Vancouver before boarding the renowned Rocky Mountaineer and heading for Jasper, Banff and Lake Louise. This awe-inspiring journey explores the beauty of the Canadian Rockies with an unforgettable cruise through Alaska – utterly breath-taking.

Details

Days 1 & 2

Vancouver

Arrive in Vancouver and transfer independently to your hotel which will serve as your base for the next two nights. These days are yours to spend at your own pace, getting to know the city and taking in the top attractions, such as Stanley Park, Vancouver Aquarium and the Capilano Suspension Bridge. If you’d prefer, you can pre-book some excursions to help you make the most of the city.

Day 3

Embark the NCL Sun

Check out of your hotel and transfer independently to the port for your 7-night Alaskan cruise**.

Day 4

Inside Passage

Explore the natural beauty of the Inside Passage today and prepare to be amazed as you cruise this epic 1000-mile stretch of scenery, complete with roaring waterfalls, pristine rainforests and glaciated mountains.

Day 5

Juneau

Take a trip to the capital of Alaska today – Juneau. While you’re here, visit the nearby Mendenhall Glacier, view the city from Mount Roberts, take part in an exhilarating whale-watching excursion or take a helicopter ride over the Juneau Icefields for a truly remarkable view.

Day 6

Skagway

The Alaskan city of Skagway has its roots firmly placed in the late 19th century gold rush, infusing the city with a unique blend of history. Take the White Pass and Yukon railroad which transported miners to the gold – the mountain scenery along this route is breath-taking.

Day 7

Glacier Bay

A globally significant wildlife sanctuary, Glacier Bay is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and Biosphere Reserve. It is home to 16 different glaciers and provides some of the most striking scenery on the whole trip.

Day 8

Ketchikan

Known as the ‘Salmon Capital of the World’, Ketchikan is today’s port of call, located on Revillagigedo Island. This is a picturesque destination with a charming harbour that shelters fishing boats and seaplanes.

Day 9

Inside Passage

Cruise along the British Columbia coast, where marine and animal life is abundant, as you make your way to Vancouver on the final stretch of the cruise.

Day 10

Vancouver

Disembark the ship this morning and transfer independently to your hotel in Vancouver. The remainder of the day is yours to explore at leisure.

Day 11

Vancouver to Kamloops

Take to the Rocky Mountaineer this morning and journey to Kamloops, found in the heart of British Columbia’s interior. The dramatic scenery changes along the way are breath-taking – highlights include the flowing waters of Hell’s Gate in the Fraser Canyon, Thompson River and Kamloops Lake, all found en-route to Kamloops.

Day 12

Kamloops to Jasper

Continue northeast into the Canadian Rockies and the province of Alberta. The scenery is, once again, utterly beautiful, as you follow the banks of the North Thompson River through the Monashee and Cariboo Mountains. One of today’s highlights is the highest peak in the Canadian Rockies, Mount Robson, which stands at 3954 metres high. Other amazing sights along this route are the Pyramid Falls and the climb over the Yellowhead Pass into Jasper National Park; the town of Jasper is where your rail journey ends today.

Day 13

Jasper to Banff

Travel the Icefields Parkway through the beauty of the Jasper and Banff National Parks, as you pass glistening glaciers, azure lakes and beautiful alpine meadows. The panorama of seemingly endless mountain ridges and snow-capped peaks occasionally opens up to reveal the deep valleys below. The tour stops at the Columbia Icefield where you’ll head out onto the vast Athabasca Glacier in a specially designed Ice Explorer (included). Other brief sightseeing stops include the opportunity to visit the Lake Louise area to take pictures of this stunning area.

Day 14

Banff

Today is at leisure to explore Banff, which you can do at your own pace or pre-book an excursion. Options that can be booked for you today include a ride on the Banff Gondola, a visit to Banff hot springs or a lake cruise.  Alternatively, relax and enjoy this beautiful town.

Overnight: Mount Royal Hotel

Day 15

Banff to Calgary Airport

Today you have an arranged transfer to take you from Banff to Calgary for your flight home.
